| Cheerleading for ages 5-13 |
Our 2010 Cheer Coordinator, Emily
Bowers, has been working to ensure a well organized and fun
experience for our girls. We will have uniforms and
warm-ups available at sign-ups to try on to get the best
fit. Last season was the first year of our program
after a two-year absence and we were pleased to have 22
cheerleaders. We hope to grow that number by quite a
bit this coming season. If you have any questions
about the 2010 cheer program, please email Emily at
emily.bowers@libertypopwarner.com.
Our goal is to have at least three squads this season:
Little Jays - 5-7 years old; Junior Jays 8-10 years old and
11-13 years old. Squads will cheer each Saturday for a
Liberty Blue Jay football team either at the Heart of
America Complex in Independence or at a "north of the river"
homecoming game.
Competitions - All Junior Jay squads (ages 8 & up) will
compete in the Heart of America League competition,
tentatively schedule for October 24. If the squad
qualifies and chooses to advance, the Regional Competition
is scheduled for November 14 and will be held at Northern
Illinois University. In both competitions the squads
compete against squads with similar skill levels and sized
squads. Squads are registered by skill levels of
novice, intermediate and advanced and squad sizes of small
and large. Just like football, there is also the
opportunity to complete all the way to the national
competition held each year in Florida at the Disney Wide
World of Sports Complex.
Pep Rally - We will have our second annual pep rally and
silent auction on August 14. There will be music,
food, cheer performances, the kickoff of our silent auction
and football players are presented with their jerseys.
